The word calligrapher comes from two Greek words, callos and grafi, meaning beautiful writing. The Arabic term was bin hat. Two Greek words are used to describe this beautiful art of Islamic writing. The Qur’an is treasured in the use of the pen and the pen becomes rather like a brush.
