The Adala Center (Justice Center for Human Rights) asked the Minister of Islamic Affairs to stop "the phenomenon” of insulting the Shia citizens and the abuse and incitement against them by the imams of the mosques calling for the minister to punish offenders.
l Adala Center requested in a letter addressed to the Minister Saleh bin Abdul Aziz Al-Sheikh to act quickly to stop this "sedition" and punish the offending imams, in addition to guarantying the non-recurrence of such abuse that do not serve the interests of dear homeland.
The center is surprised how the ministry is allowing them to pray against fellow Muslim citizens while the Ministry of Islamic Affairs stated that "it is illegal under Islamic rules to pray against the Jews and the Christians."
The letter signed by the Secretary-General of the Center (Sadek Ramadan) stated that: “the insults and verbal abuse against Shias has been increasing since the holy month of Ramadan and is still happening.”
As an example, the Center also included an audio recording of one of the mosques that went too far in insulting the Shias. The mosque is Abu Sa’eed Al-Khodri, in Al Jalwiya district, Dammam.
He added that this phenomenon is a clear violation of Article (12) of the Basic Law, which states that "the promotion of national unity and duty and to prevent the State leads to division and discord and division."
