In a recent press statement, Sheikh Faisal vehemently denied the allegations made earlier by Sheikh Meshal Al-Malik, asserting the latter does not represent the family. He affirmed all the members of the ruling family fully support the nation’s leaders.
“We keep the name of the Al-Malik Al-Sabah family away from any member who exhibits irresponsible behavior, especially those who misuse their freedom of expression to instigate chaos through the media. We outrightly reject the statements issued by Sheikh Meshal and we have repeatedly asked him to give up his wrong ideologies but our efforts proved futile. We are united and we fully support our political leadership headed by HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah”, Sheikh Faisal added.
In the meantime, Al-Kuwaitiah daily has quoted a government source as saying that the executive authority treats all groups and citizens equally. He disclosed HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak had previously met a Shiite delegation to listen to their demands. He said the government will study the group’s recommendations and it has no intention to give anyone preferential treatment as everybody has the right to voice their ideas or demands.
On the other hand, MP Yousef Al-Zalzalah pointed out it is just natural for the Prime Minister to meet various groups to deliberate on the current political situation. He lamented some people seem keen on instigating conflicts by insinuating that certain groups are being favored over others.
