“We have to study all options to save the Syrian people,” he said after meeting European Parliament head Martin Schulz.
Schulz hailed Qatar for playing a “constructive” role in the crisis.
The Prime Minister added: “We call for stopping the killings and guaranteeing access for humanitarian aid and call on the Syrian government to accept the Arab initiative of 22 January”.
He denied the news about sending Qatari-French troops to Syria, and said “It would be announced if we take a step of this kind, such as what happened in Libya. Such an action is to be taken through the GCC, the Arab League and the UN not by the State of Qatar alone.”
In response to a question about the attention now paid to Syria, and in turn that Jerusalem and the situation in the Kingdom of Bahrain are forgotten, HE the Prime Minister said: “The State of Qatar has not forgotten the Palestinian issue. Two days ago there was a meeting on Jerusalem in Doha.
On Bahrain, he said that what happened there must be addressed by the government, pointing out that there are two sects in Bahrain, Sunnis and Shias, and there is disagreement over foreign intervention, expressing the hope that the dispute would be solved within the Bahraini family because the two parties are Bahrainis and therefore we are always keen to solve this issue, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim said adding that Qatar at a certain time sought a solution to the issue.
“To my knowledge progress has been made in this area and we do not accept the killing even of a single person anywhere in the world”, he said emphasising the absence of double standards, and stressing that Qatar has a clear vision, that is well known, on all Arab and Gulf issues.
“This vision might cause some troubles for Qatar being a small country in the region, but this is a principled position,” he said.
