Speaking at the IAEA’s 53rd annual conference held here, Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Austria and permanent representative to the United Nations’ organizations in Vienna Prince Turki Bin Saud Bin Mohammad Al-Saud said IAEA’s documents do not mention Israel’s refusal to join the NPT, which constitutes double standards.
He said that if Israel does not join the treaty, other countries will not comply with it as well and many would be tempted to test it, and that would affect the agency’s credibility and neutrality.
He expressed hope that IAEA’s director general comes up with clear initiative to overcome continued Israeli inflexibility which aborts all efforts at peace.
