It decided to refer a Syrian request to add an additional item to the agenda of Bangkok assembly of the International Parliamentary Union to the 16th conference of APU. The executive committee approved implementation of resolutions regarding amending the union charter and internal regulations, restructuring the secretariat-general, publication of a news bulletin and the criteria for awarding an Arab parliamentary award. The committee approved a report on an Arab centre for legal an parliamentary studies and welcomed a Lebanese offer to host the centre.
The committee decided to arrange a visit for its members to Gaza to show support of Arab parliamentarians for the just Palestinian struggle. The meeting approved preparations by the presidency and the secretariat-general for the 16th conference of the union scheduled for March 2-4 in Cairo, thanked the UAE‘s federal national council for its support and co-operation with APU’s secretariat and approved the final account of 2009 budget and the 2010 budget. Nadir al Dhuhairat, member of the Jordanian Al Ayan council, addressed the session thanking the Sultanate for hosting the meeting. He also thanked Al Isa’ee for the efforts he made during his presidency.
