and was co-chaired by Secretary-General of the Arab League Amr Moussa, and Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC) Jean Ping, has welcomed the tireless efforts of the State of Qatar as part of the Arab-African initiative to resolve the crisis in Darfur, in cooperation with the chief negotiator for the African Union and the United Nations. The meeting in its concluding communique, urged the armed movement in Darfur to fully participate in the Doha talks that aim to realise peace in the region. It also lauded efforts of Libya and Egypt in support of the initiative for an African summit. The meeting highlighted the importance of making a comprehensive solution to the crisis and expressed full support to the report and recommendations of the African Union”s high-level Commission that has prominent members and led by President Thabo Mbeki of South Africa.
