Speaking at a meeting of permanent delegates to the Arab League, the members also praised Qatar for supporting and mediating negotiations. They spoke of the Arab League’s backing to these negotiations, that resulted eventually in the Doha document. They expressed their hope that all Darfurians would join the document so that peace and stability would prevail in the region. They calling on the armed Darfurian opposition to seek peace by negotiating with the Sudanese government on the bases of document’s guidelines.
They praised the outcomes of Darfur’s peace discussions which began in Doha in 2009 under the patronage of the Arab League and the African Union as well as the persistent efforts of Qatar in mediating between the parties involved.
The council stressed the importance of the efforts of the Arab-African Ministerial Committee led by Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani and Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa and Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union Jean Ping and Basole.
