Kuwaiti Interior Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Khalid Al-Jaber Al-Sabah said in a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the agreement, that was signed yesterday, embodied the promotion of the level of mutual cooperation between the two countries, especially in the security domains.
The signing of the agreement essentially affirms the solid and historic
ties binding the two countries, Sheikh Jaber Al-Khaled said, adding that "it also translates the common desire to hike and regulate the level of cooperation.
For his part, Bahraini Interior Minister Sheikh Rashed Bin Abdullah
Al-Khalifa, who signed the accord along with his Kuwaiti counterpart,
indicated that the newly-signed agreement would add weight to the distinctive ties binding the two countries.
The accord is essentially aimed at securing effective joint combat of all
forms of crime and promoting performance of the security authorities in the two countries, in line with regulations and rules set by Arab and international treaties that call for fighting terrorism.
It also stipulates exchange of expertise, officials’ visits, swap of
information and documents concerning drugs, terrorism, trafficking, burglary and extradition of fugitives.
The accord notes necessity of acquiring up-to-date technology for
investigating crimes, keeping and swapping data concerning travel and
residency. It also calls for exchange of researches, issuing joint tourist visas and regulating residency for nationals of the countries in each of the two states.
The Kuwaiti minister concluded the visit to Bahrain yesterday, wrapping up a regional tour that included Oman, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.
