Those amendments would be enforced if given the green light by the upper house, while the draft law to amend the constitution was part of the recommendations of the national dialogue held last year to deal with unrest.
Part of the amendments is the rights of those with dual (Bahraini and another Gulf) nationality to stand for parliamentary election. Those who have been given Bahraini nationality should wait no less than ten years before having the right to stand for election.
Legislators also agreed that election candidates should know to write and read Arabic and have no less than secondary education certificate.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Justice and Islamic Affairs Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa affirmed to the MPs that after the endorsement of the amendments there would be no need for resolving of the parliament.
