The opposition parties in Bahrain warn the regime over its counting attempts to drag the country into a violence trap and on the other hand, neglect political resolution. The opposition also warns over the regime’s ongoing extrajudicial killing, as has happened recently when regime forces fired Birdshot at Ali Neama at close range. Mohammed Mushaima, was another victim of the regime’s recklessness towards its citizens’ lives. Mohammed was suffering from sickle cell, he was subjected to physical and psychological ill-treatment in detention, and he was denied suitable medical treatment, this led to his death.

The opposition declared that the government’s practices today, are compatible with its behavior during the ‘National Safety Law"/ State of Emergency period. This makes certain that nothing has changed, even after the BICI report and recommendation of the UNs HRC were issued. In fact, the government has intensified its violent suppression and extrajudicial killings after the HRCs 21st session had just ended.

The government also directs its media to take on more political and sectarian incitement. As state media has wrongly claimed that the ‘Democratic Progressive Forum Society (al-Taqadumi)’ has signed a statement it had not read, in attempt to distort the society’s reputation and spread propaganda.

The societies signed on this statement stand in solidarity with ‘Al-Taqadumi’ and deplore the attempts to push its name into statements and events it was not knowledgeable of. The opposition believes that these attempts are merely supposed to spoil the opposition’s image locally and internationally, after the state media has failed to spread propaganda against the Bahraini opposition.

The opposition parties believe that the regime’s efforts to make the world bypass the constitutional disagreement in the country, have made a big failure, despite the millions of dollars spent on PR.

The opposition affirms unity between Bahrainis and rejects sectarianism that destroys the social fabric in the country. Bahrainis of all sects must have a right to freely elect a government that reflects the aspirations and will of the people.
