He said that three society’s members left on Monday to Palestine to attend a meeting for the Arab Medical Federation to discuss how Arab doctors could deal with the disastrous medical conditions in Gaza.

Fund-raising
“We have — the society — succeeded in raising BD10,000 through our Gaza Support Panel and handed the donation for the three doctors to deliver to the concerned bodies.”

He said that the raising-fund campaign continued in cooperation with many other organisations.

Dr Ahmed said that more society’s delegations would be sent to Palestine to contribute in easing the daily sufferings of Gazans.

On the national level, the first consignment of humanitarian aid, including medical and relief good was sent to Gaza on Saturday.

More shipments are expected to be sent in the coming days. This came in implementation of the order of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Honourary President of the Royal Charity Organisation.

More Consignment
The consignment was sent off in the presence of Justice and Islamic Affairs Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, Palestinian Ambassador Ahmed Abbas Ramadhan, the organisation’s Secretary General Mustafa Al Sayed and Bahrain Red Crescent Society Secretary General Sadeq Al Shahabi.

The minister said that the aid offered by Bahrain for Gazans was the least that could be offered and hoped that it would arrive on time to help alleviate even a little of their suffering.

The minister said that there has been coordination between the organisation and Bahrain Red Crescent Society to send the consignment as soon as possible.

Shaikh Khalid hoped that there would be an effective solution for the situation in Palestine and that action would be taken to halt the Israeli attacks on the Gaza strip. He said that the consignment was sent through Bahrain International Airport.
