Benefit from Royal reprieve: Saudi Cabinet

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) after the session, Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Abdulaziz Khoja said that the Cabinet was briefed on a report about the great efforts of the ministries of interior and labor to correct the work and residency status of expatriates as well as to facilitate the exit of those who leave the Kingdom.

The Cabinet stressed that these measures are to serve the interests of both workers and employers.

Dr. Khoja said the Cabinet thanked King Abdullah for issuing order to address the situation of undergraduate health diploma holders so as to find them jobs in the health sector.

The Cabinet also reviewed the ongoing international efforts to resolve the Syrian crisis.

On the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the formation of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) General Secretariat, the Cabinet hailed the efforts of the GCC leaders and their keenness to achieve more progress and realize aspirations of the GCC peoples.

Dr. Khoja said the Cabinet approved transforming the Exhibitions and Conventions Standing Committee into a National Program under the name of “National Program for Exhibitions and Conventions.”

The Program aims at developing and organizing exhibitions and conventions’ sector in a comprehensive manner and work out necessary plans to realize its goals. There would be a supervisory committee for the Program, which will be headed by the President of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA). However, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry would continue making preparations for the Kingdom’s participations in exhibitions that will be held in foreign countries, besides representing the Kingdom at the Paris International Exhibitions Bureau, and issuing commercial registrations for companies and establishments that organize exhibitions and conventions.

The Cabinet approved reconstitution of the Board of Trustees of King Fahd National Library, with the Crown Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz as its chairman. The members of the board include Minister of Higher Education, Minister of Culture and Information, Deputy Minister of Finance, President of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, General Supervisor of King Abdulaziz Public Library, Secretary General of King Abdulaziz Foundation and Secretary General of King Fahd National Library. Another five members will be selected from among the concerned specialists.

Dr. Khoja said the Cabinet also authorized the Crown Prince Salman, Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense, or his deputy to discuss and sign a draft agreement with the government of Austria in the field of mutual protection of classified information.
