During an interview with al-Ayam daily newspaper, Lindsay announced his country’s disapproval of all forms of violence in Bahrain.
He invited all political parties to participate in dialogue without setting preconditions. The envoy also announced his country’s readiness to combat terror upon Bahrain’s request.
The ambassador stated that a number of British non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have accepted requests from Bahrain to come together in cooperation against violence in Bahrain and draft free speech and anti-terrorism laws.
He also reminded Bahraini officials that his country’s security authorities have played an important role in unraveling numerous cases involving explosive material.
However, Lindsay refrained from commenting on the recent move by Bahraini officials who revoked the citizenship of 31 political activists.
Bahrain has been the scene of anti-regime protests since February 2011, and scores of people have been killed and hundreds more have been injured in the regime crackdown.
