The United Nations-African Union joint committee, that had been in direct contact with all parties concerned over the past few weeks, will invite the Sudanese government, the Justice and Equality Movement and the Liberation and Justice Movement to resume comprehensive negotiations in Doha.

The peace negotiations were suspended due to the Sudanese elections.

The Sudanese government, which has been in contact after the elections with the negotiation committee in Doha, is keen to reach a final solution to the Darfur issue, said Amin Hassan Omer, chairman of the Sudanese government’s delegation to the talks.
