“…You and I have both seen that after three years…the people are strong, the people are resolute and they are determined to fight for their freedom and for liberation,” Colin Cavell, a former professor at the University of Bahrain, told Press TV.
“…The Al Khalifa is better pack their bags because a reckoning is coming,” the analyst added.
Pointing to the Bahraini regime’s attack on the mourners of an anti-regime activist who died in prison a few days ago, he said Jafar al-Dirazi died for the cause of freedom and liberation.
According to reports on Monday, Bahraini regime forces fired tear gas to disperse thousands of people who had gathered to mourn the death of 22-year-old Dirazi in the village of Daih in the west of the capital Manama. Dirazi had been arrested in December 2013.
The commentator said the world is ignoring Bahrain, but people in the United States and elsewhere are surely seeing that the actions by their government are “inexcusable and hypocritical” and that they are supporting the wrong side in this fight.
“We are supporting a rogue regime that gets away with impunity, killing people, torturing people, attacking peaceful protesters against international law and slowly but surely the world will see the light that has been shed on Bahrain,” Cavell added.
The analyst said certain Western governments believe that keeping the US Navy Fleet in Bahrain is of strategic importance.
He warned that the more Western governments support dictatorships and monarchs, the more the US will be hated and “there will be consequences.”
