Vice Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Prince Salman chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting that reviewed major regional and international developments, including the deteriorating situation in Syria and Palestine.

The Cabinet also condemned the human rights violations against the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar and backed the decisions of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva in this regard.

The Cabinet also supported the resolutions adopted by the GCC foreign ministers’ meeting in Jeddah and the positions expressed by the GCC countries toward regional, Arab and international issues.

The Cabinet referred to the Standard & Poor’s credit rating agency’s recent report raising the outlook for a sovereign rating of Saudi Arabia from stable to positive at a high credit rate (AA), stressing that these positive evaluations issued by the largest rating agency confirm its confidence in the strength of the Kingdom’s economy.

Culture and Information Minister Abdul Aziz Khoja said the Cabinet also endorsed the GCC law, which was passed by the GCC summit that was held in Riyadh on Dec. 20, 2011, as well as the provisions relating to penalties for violations of the law.

The Cabinet extended the commitment between the government and the Saudi Arabian Public Transport Company issued under Royal Decree No. (M/48) dated on 12/23/1399 Hijri, for a period of three years from 01/07/1434 Hijri.

However, the Cabinet pointed out that the Public Transport Authority or the Ministry of Transport would have the right to reduce the committed area under the contract during this period in accordance with the phases where competition for public bus transport services will be introduced between Saudi cities.

The Cabinet appointed Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Sheddi and Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz Al-Shabanat as members of the Cabinet experts committee, Suleiman bin Ali Al-Badir minister plenipotentiary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al-Sabeel director general of administrative and financial affairs at the Riyadh Governorate and Mohammed Tawfiq Madani director general of the Transport Department in Makkah.

Khoja said the Cabinet also discussed a number of topics on its agenda, including annual reports of the Department of Statistics and Information and Control and Investigation Board for the previous financial years.
