The session was attended by HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani and HE the Deputy Prime Minister and chief of the Emiri Diwan Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah.
Members of the delegation accompanying the NTC chairman also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations as well as the latest developments in Libya.
Abdel Jalil was accorded an official reception on arrival at Al Wajbah Palace.
Following the meeting, the Emir and the NTC chairman accompanied by others, performed Maghrib prayers.
The Emir later hosted an Iftar banquet in honour of Abdel Jalil and his accompanying delegation.
Mustafa Abdel Jalil and his accompanying delegation were welcomed upon arrival at Doha International Airport by HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Chief of the Emiri Diwan Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah and HE the Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces Maj Gen Hamad bin Ali al-Attiyah.
Meanwhile, Dr Mahmoud Jibril, leading the Libyan delegation to the extraordinary Arab ministerial meeting in Cairo on Saturday, has hailed Qatar’s generous support for the Libyan revolution, as well as its initiative to secure $ 2.5bn from the international community for the Libyan National Transitional Council (NTC) before Eid al-Fitr.
Dr Jibril in his speech before the extraordinary meeting, chaired by Oman, stressed on the importance of Arab financial support for the transition in Libya.
He pointed out that the NTC’s legitimacy had depended on the role of struggle against the regime of Col Gaddafi over the past six months, adding that its legitimacy was now based on its ability to meet the demands of the people and the provision of essential services.
