The ministries of GCC countries are studying possible action against the activities of Hezbollah, Al Sharq reports, quoting a senior Bahraini official. Hamad Al Aamir, an undersecretary in Bahrain’s Foreign ministry, told the daily that GCC states had developed a consensus on the Hezbollah issue.

Al Aamir said Manama had not received any communication from the government of Lebanon about its decision to press for the inclusion of Hezbollah on the global terror list.

He said Bahrain’s decision will not harm its ties with Lebanon because it concerns an organisation and not the country.

Meanwhile, the European Union could blacklist Hezbollah’s military wing while stressing it is open to talking to the movement’s political faction, under a proposal by the EU’s foreign policy chief, Reuters reported EU diplomats as saying yesterday. European governments have been deadlocked over the issue since May.
