The Sultanate’s delegation was led by Shaikh Abdullah bin Salim al Rowas, Minister of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources. The Sultanate gave a briefing on the procedures taken before and after the adverse weather conditions in the country last year and the municipalities’ role and task during the event.
The meeting discussed a proposal to streamline performance and eliminate obstacles before the municipal work by developing rules and regulations as well as public utilities to cope with urbanisation development, besides speeding up establishing a municipal database.
A proposal on the GCC municipal work prize aimed at encouraging individual and group initiatives which could promote the municipal work and achieve sustainable development, besides raising awareness among GCC citizens and residents alike. The session also discussed to set up an executive office for municipalities affairs.
