NATO Assistant Secretary-General for Public Diplomacy Jean Fournet made the remarks during an ongoing conference held here under the title "Media in a Changeable World between Gulf states and NATO Visions".
He hailed the gathering as a significant step towards continued dialogue initiated by Istanbul in 2004 and subsequent consultations with Gulf countries, whether at the formal or informal level.
Fournet stressed the significance of channels of dialogue, involving the ongoing conference, aiming to flesh out a clearer understanding of targets and goals which the NATO wants to achieve with Gulf nations.
Expounding on the NATO’s activities, Fournet said the NATO was shouldering several peacekeeping missions in diverse world regions, including the Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan and others.
The conference, organized by the Bahraini Ministry of Information, attracted several media and security experts and academics.
