GCC parliaments, keen on Iraq’s unity

The pledge was made during a meeting between chief delegates of the GCC member countries to the ongoing of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) and Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani.

The two sides held "open and transparent" talks on ways to stabilize the situations in Iraq and preserve its unity, Kuwaiti National Assembly Speaker Jassem Al-Kharafi told reporters following the meeting.

The two sides probed cooperation between Iraq and the GCC members.
The meeting provided a good chance for the GCC leading parliamentarian to get a close view of the situations in Iraq, he pointed out.

Al-Kharafi urged people from all walks of life in Iraq to work together to help the democratic experiment succeed and restore stability to their country.
Meanwhile, Al-Mashhadani praised "the positive attitude" shown by the GCC leading parliamentarians towards his nation.

He voiced hope that Iraq, backed by the GCC countries, would overcome the current hardships.
