Dr Abdullah Oqlah al Hashim, Assistant Secretary-General for Administration and Environment Affairs at the GCC Secretariat-General, in a speech stressed the importance of the meeting. He pointed out that the project comes as per the directives of the GCC leaders for using nuclear power for peaceful purposes. He explained that the GCC states are looking forward to making this strategic project an asset for future generations. He hoped that the meeting would come out with a number of recommendations.
The meeting is discussing the GCC’s Secretariat-General’s report on the detailed studies of nuclear energy usages for peaceful purposes, latest developments on detailed studies, technical co-operation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, besides Oman’s proposal on self-assessment of the extent of developing infrastructure of nuclear energy.
