Around 32 flights have been affected since April 15 when these airports were declared closed.
While the airline has already been providing all possible support in terms of accommodation and meals to affected passengers, it has offered a number of alternate travel options, such as free return tickets to their point of origin, full refund or rebooking tickets at no extra cost, said a spokesperson.
Besides, for those passengers stranded in transit in Bahrain, Gulf Air will also be offering a credit value equal to their original full ticket that they can use it for travel on Gulf Air services at a future date, he added.
“We have set up an emergency task force team that is personally meeting those passengers stranded in Bahrain at their hotels and explaining the options as they wait for European airspace to reopen,” stated Gulf Air CEO, Samer Majali.
“We are closely monitoring the developments and are in constant contact with the respective aviation authorities and meteorological services to respond to any developments at short notice,” he said.
The flight disruption has also impacted Gulf Air cargo; however the shipments currently on hand will be rebooked on available flights as soon as flight operations are resumed. While the airline has suspended accepting cargo to and from Europe, cargo movement to and from the rest of the Gulf Air’s network is unaffected, he added.

UAE Oman to crack down on infiltrators and smugglers
Khaleej Times: The UAE and Oman have agreed to step up operations against infiltrators and drug smugglers across borders as these illicit activities pose threat to security and stability of the two neighbouring countries.
A statement issued at the conclusion of a three-day meeting of the UAE-Oman Security Committee in Abu Dhabi stressed the vital importance of joint coordination and cooperation for combating these illegal practices.
The two sides also called for conducting joint exercises in civil defence, and timely exchanging of reports and information between central operations rooms on grave accidents.
A joint taskforce will meet as soon as possible to follow up implementation of e-link between border checkpoints to ensure greater efficiency and compliance.
Lt. General Saif Al Shafaar, Undersecretary of UAE Ministry of Interior, and Major General Salim Qatan, Assistant Inspector General of Police and Customs in Oman, who co-chaired the discussions, signed the minutes of the meeting.
