IIMSAM said the Qatari role in human rights aims at enhancing the humanitarian role and giving people dignity and the status they deserves. IIMSAM’s Goodwill Ambassador and Director of the Doha-based Middle East office Dr Naseer Homoud said the Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, since assuming power, directed all concerned institutions to work towards enhancing, protecting and maintaining human rights, a move that resulted in achieving successes on the people’s protection level.
In a press release issued on the occasion of the International Human Rights Day, Dr Homoud said “ the role of Qatar has not been confined to caring for its nationals and people living on its soil, but rather exceeded that to the use of international forums to caution others for the need for adherence by some nations to their citizens rights.”
He commended the role played by the Qatar’s National Human Rights Commission (QNHRC) to this effect, praising efforts of QNHRC’s Chairman Dr. Ali bin Smeikh Al Marri over the previous years on the level of reports and the organisation of specialised conferences.
