Iran calls for dialogue with UAE over Gulf isles

Mehman-Parast was replying to press statements by UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nuhayyan who said that "an occupation of an Arab land is an occupation and not a misunderstanding and there is no difference between Israel’s occupation of the Golan (Heights), south Lebanon, West Bank or Gaza and the Iranian occupation of the UAE islands." He said that the UAE minister’s statements are "incorrect," adding that Iran has always strived for enhnacing solidarity among Islamic countries to confront Israel.

 

Iran’s 1971 occupation of the Abu Moussa and the Greater and Lesser Tunb islands have caused a row between Tehran and Abu Dhabi.
