"Suppression of the helpless Bahraini nation using foreign armed forces and Saudi Arabia and a number of Persian Gulf Arab states’ clear meddling under the the Peninsula Shield Force treaty has continued in the last several years and it still continues despite the positions taken by the international bodies and different western and non-western countries," the statement issued by the parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission said on Sunday.
The statement reminded that the Bahraini regime has not adopted any positive action for resolving the problems and meeting the righteous demands of the people, and stressed that the future elections cannot solve the problems either.
The statement condemned the suppression of the Bahraini people by the al-Khalifa and foreign forces, and called on the Manama regime to start serious changes and reforms in the country’s political structure.
Since mid-February 2011, thousands of protesters have held numerous demonstrations in the streets of Bahrain, calling for the Al-Khalifa royal family to relinquish power.
According to local sources, scores of people have been killed and hundreds arrested in the regime crackdown.
In June, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights censured the Manama regime for human rights violations in the country.
