The remarks were made after the 15th Joint Economic Commission of Iran and Oman meeting in Masqat on Wednesday, headed by the two ministers.
The two officials agreed in a joint press conference after the commission meeting that there are still a lot of unexplored potentials for the further expansion of bilateral trade relations.
The Omani minister said that major part of the discussion in the 15th Joint Economic Commission meeting was focused on ways and methods that should be employed at the service of boosting bilateral trade.
Iranian officials have repeatedly underlined that they attach great importance to the consolidation of Tehran’s relations with the Middle-East countries, specially with the Persian Gulf littoral states, in order to protect and promote peace and security in the region.
Tehran’s Ambassador to Masqat Ali Akbar Sibouyeh announced on Wednesday that Iran and Oman were discussing plans to lift visa requirements in a reciprocal move.
"Iran and Oman enjoy highly good relations and no economic, trade or political issue can impair the two countries’ ties," Sibouyeh told reporters.
"The two countries are in talks over lifting visa requirements and developing trade relations," he added.
Noting that the volume of trade exchanges between Iran and Oman stood at $1bln, Sibouyeh said that the agreement to build gas pipeline between the two countries would soon be implemented after preliminary works by the technical committees are complete.
