During the meeting, the Iranian official briefed al-Hinai on Iran’s scientific achievements and stated that the country has ranked first in the region due to its capabilities in producing science.
He further voiced Tehran’s readiness to expand cooperation with Muscat in carrying out joint research projects.
Meantime, the Omani official termed Iran’s scientific achievements as significant.
He called on Iran to help Oman implement various scientific projects, particularly in the fields of petrochemicals and oil.
Over the last few years, Iran and Oman have expanded military ties and cooperation specially over security in the Persian Gulf.
The two countries signed a security agreement in August 2009.
Later in August 2010, the two Persian Gulf states signed an agreement to further boost mutual cooperation in the field of defense.
In December, the Iranian parliament approved a bill that allows Tehran to implement an agreement on security cooperation and coordination with Oman.
