ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (Ahlul Bayt News Agency) – A Pakistani Shiite cleric on Saturday strongly condemned the attack by Bahraini forces on the house of prominent Shia Muslim cleric Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Ahmed Qassim.
Talking to IRNA Allama Amin Shaheedi Deputy Secretary General, Majlis Wehdat Muslemeen (MWM) said Sheikh Qassim is the leader of Bahraini people and the ruling Al Khalifa regime has no right to vandalize his house.
“This is an inhuman act,” he noted.
Security forces reportedly broke the doors of Sheikh Qassim’s house in the northwestern village of Diraz and vandalized his property.
Born in 1937, Sheikh Qassim is often referred to as the spiritual leader of Bahrain’s main opposition bloc al-Wefaq.
Allama Amin Shaheedi expressing his views said that the coward attack depicts the vengeance of tyrant dictator in Bahrain. He added that people of Bahrain are being punished for revolting against Al Khalifa regime backed by Salafis.
He added that people in Bahrain have been peacefully demanding King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifaˈs ouster and constitutional reforms.
Majlis Wehdat Muslemeen leader said that Bahrain is also home to the US Navyˈs Fifth Fleet so they want Bahraini king to continue to rule the country irrespective of the revolt of the people. “Americans want to keep their interests intact in the region,” he noted.
He said that international organizations have become silent spectator to the Bahrain crises.
The MWM leader said that Sheikh Qassim has always talked about the rights of Bahraini people and has been raising a strong voice against the American interference in the Persian Gulf state.
He said that The OIC and the Arab league have failed to play any role to protect the rights of Muslims. “We cannot expect anything positive from OIC and Arab League,” said the religious leader.
He warned that a conspiracy is being hatched to divide Muslims, urging Muslims belonging to all schools of thought must unite to counter the western propaganda.
He reiterated that Washington wants to take control of the resources of Middle Eastern countries. He said that the US and the Zionist regime are afraid of the power of united Ummah that is why they are trying every effort to divide Muslims.
The MWM leader asked certain Arab states not to become tools in the hands of western governments.
He stressed that objective of US presence in certain regional states is to monitor the latest developments in the region.
