The Foundation bought over 30 baskets of food supplies from the Yemeni markets in the first phase of the initiative to implement the order by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan allocating Dh500 million to purchase and distribute essential food items for the Yemeni people.
Over 30 Yemeni families will benefit from the humanitarian gesture in the current phase as each basket contains food items sufficient for 5 to 8 persons for the next three months.
The food supplies will be distributed in the provinces where displaced people are living.
The UAE embassy in Sana’a will oversee the distribution in coordination with the Yemeni authorities.
The President had assigned KBZHF to purchase these supplies from the local markets in Yemen in order to activate the Yemeni economy and revive its domestic market.
Shaikh Khalifa also gave directives to distribute the food supplies directly among the Yemeni society by setting up outlets for distribution in the different regions of Yemen to ensure they arrive the largest number of segments of people.
