"Any assault on the security of Saudi Arabia is an assault on Bahrain’s security," His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa said yesterday.
Chairing the weekly Cabinet meeting at Gudaibiya Palace, he strongly condemned gunmen’s encroachment and violations of Saudi territories in Jizan Province.
He stressed Bahrain’s solidarity with Saudi in defending its territories, borders and people’s lives. The deep-rooted fraternal ties and sense of joint destiny bonding both countries were also highlighted.
The session expressed its confidence in the ability of Saudi, led by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, to thwart any aggression and neutralise threats.
"Any aggression on Saudi is also an aggression on the whole Arab nation," Cabinet Affairs Minister Shaikh Ahmed bin Ateyatala Al Khalifa said.
He highlighted the clout and strategic depth of Saudi, describing it as a pivotal country for the GCC, Arab and Islamic nations.
Meanwhile, Saudi said it had regained control of territory seized by Yemeni rebels in an incursion last week. But the rebels denied they had lost control of Jabal Dukhan and said the kingdom’s offensive was continuing, with Yemeni villages the target of heavy bombing.
Three Saudi soldiers were killed and 15 wounded in fighting. Four Saudi soldiers were missing, but Saudi officials denied they had been taken prisoner.
The Zaidi rebels said they shot down a Yemeni combat aircraft on the Saudi border and a military source in Sanaa acknowledged a Russian Sukhoi bomber had crashed because of "mechanical problems".
