Iraqi media carried reports to this effect earlier today quoting undersecretary of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry; the official was commenting on the protests in Baghdad against the bombardment of Iraqi border areas by Iranian and Turkish forces.

Refuting the reports categorically, a senior official of the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry said he was astonished by "such allegations." "The State of Kuwait respects the safety of Iraq’s borders out of keenness on the neighborly ties with Iraq and full commitment to the UN Security Council Resolution 833," the Kuwaiti senior diplomat.

"There has never been any Kuwaiti infringement whatsoever on the Iraqi borders," he underscored.

As for the Mubarak Al-Kabir Harbor, he reaffirmed that the seaport is being built on the Kuwaiti territory and inside the territorial waters of Kuwait.

"The issue is being addressed through official diplomatic channels between the two countries. We are keen on pursuing constructive cooperation with the brothers in Iraq with a view to cementing sisterly ties between the two countries," he added.
