Kuwait asserts importance to enact resolutions of Interior Ministers’ Council

Kuwait is looking forward for "significant’ outcomes of previous resolutions by the council, Interior Minister Lieut-General Sheikh Jaber Al-Khaled Al-Sabah (ret.) said in a speech before the first session of the 27th Council of Arab Interior Ministers, which kicked off earlier today.

Underscoring necessity to manifest these resolutions on ground, Sheikh Jaber Al-Khaled said "a strong will and serious cooperation" are needed in order to reach this goal, all along with an advanced security methodology that has the ability to keep up with current criminal phenomena.

Also in his speech, Sheikh Jaber Al-Khaled congratulated Iraq for the positive turnout of the recently held parliamentary elections, as well as he appreciated "tangible" efforts by Arab countries in combating terrorism.

Sheikh Jaber Al-Khaled is heading a delegation that groups Acting Undersecretary Lieut-General Ghazi Al-Omar and Director General of the General Department for Ministerial Councils and Committees’ Affairs at the ministry Brigadier Dr. Abdullah Al-Enizi.

The session commenced by a keynote speech for the Tunisian President Zine El-Abidine Ben Ali, which was delivered on his behalf by Interior Minister Rafiq Belhaj Kacem.

The session’s agenda features a six-phased plan for fighting illegal drugs, a fifth phased blueprint for combating terrorism and a second phased plan for civil protection.

Other issues on the agenda include discussing key draft agreements for fighting corruption, money laundering, terror finance, information technology crimes and transitional organized crimes.
