Al-Mutairi made the statement in a forum that the movement organized recently at Erada Square where numerous MPs and other participants discussed the importance of implementing political reforms, such as the amendment of the election system, transformation of Kuwait into a single constituency and the recognition of political parties.
Meanwhile, Head of Kuwait Liberal Bloc Ahmad Al-Dayeen pointed out Kuwait remains attached to the ‘sheikhdom’ mentality. He said the country must adopt the real democratic mentality to end the conflicts and violation of the Constitution.
In another development, Al-Anba daily has reported that former MP and Islamic Constitutional Movement
(ICM) member Mubarak Al-Duwaila condemns attacks from some GCC states against Egypt and its President-elect Dr Mohammed Morsy. He was referring to the alleged statement of Dubai Police Department Head Lieutenant General Dhahi Al-Khalfan against Egypt and its leadership.
Al-Duwaila asserted Egypt is the center of power for the Arab and Islamic world, stressing that the country’s strength and stability reflect on the Arab and Islamic nations. He hopes the Gulf states will reconsider their views on the Muslim Brotherhood and open a new page by forging ties with the group.
He argued the Brotherhood continues to reach out to the GCC states but the hostile environment created by the previous regime had hampered their conciliatory efforts. He called for the formation of a GCC delegation to personally congratulate Morsy as he sees nothing wrong in such gestures.
