The two decrees are based on the Amir Decree 1 for 2009 on the cabinet reshuffle, which was amended by Decree 21 for 2009, and the Amir Decree on the resignation of HH the Prime Minister which was adopted on March 16, 2009.
"Taking into consideration the desire of Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Hussein Nasser Al-Huraiti to stand for the coming National Assembly elections, we decree that Minister of Information Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah should take charge of the two portfolios of Justice, and Awqaf and Islamic Affairs beside his current portfolio," a statement issued by Al-Saif Palace quoted the Amiri Decree 95 as saying.
Decree 96 for 2009 reads: "Taking into consideration the recent regulations and the intention of Minister of Health Roudhan Abdulaziz Al-Roudhan to stand for the National Assembly, we decree that Moudhi Abdulaziz Al-Homoud should replace him while retaining her current portfolio as Minister of State for Housing Affairs and Minister of State for Development Affairs." The replacements should remain in effect on an interim basis pending the formation of a new cabinet.
HH the Prime Minister should take the necessary legal steps to implement the decrees which will be published by Kuwait Gazette.
The decrees are in line with the recommendations tendered to HH the Amir by Acting Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubaral Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
