Speaking to KUNA while leaving Sharm El-Sheikh flying back home, he said, "The meeting was so fruitful and constructive that specific and integrated steps were taken on security issues that concern the entire region." The meeting mainly focused on what Iraq’s neighboring nations could do to help bring security and stability to the state where the security situation is still volatile.

During the gathering, the interior ministers agreed to exert joint and concerted efforts in the field of sharing information and experience and stepping up cooperation against terrorism, illegal drugs, and organized crimes, the Kuwaiti minister said.

He thanked Egypt for successfully hosting the meeting and for providing the congenial atmosphere that helped the conferees come up with recommendations and resolutions targeting more security cooperation between Iraq and its neighbors.

In their final communique adopted in Sharm El-Sheikh, the interior ministers denounced terrorist attacks in Iraq, which they said have egregious security reflections on the country and its neighbors.

They called for consolidating and beefing up cooperation and coordination among Iraq’s neighbors in order to put an end to such terrorist acts so that security could prevail in the entire region.
