Speaking to Oman newspaper on the occasion of 30th GCC summit which was concluded in Kuwait on Tuesday, Al-Roumi pointed out that the Kuwaiti and Omani leaderships’ strong relation reflected positively on both nations, stressing that both GCC states were looking forward to develop ties in the future.
Reflecting on the legacy of the GCC, the Kuwaiti diplomat noted that within less than 30 years the Gulf council accomplished a lot, adding that the GCC leaders had a firm stance regarding issues of regional and international importance.
The increasing economic and commercial cooperation was a sign that the GCC was developing and signing accords with the EU and WTO showcased such sentiment, said Al-Roumi who also pointed out the Gulf council was aiming at a unified currency similar to the EU’s Euro.
The Kuwaiti official indicated that the GCC states had always made unified decisions regarding political developments in the region which mirrored the GCC keenness to face challenges as one unit.
On the vital development projects under the GCC scope, Al-Roumi revealed the GCC power-grid and railway projects were amongst priority list.
The GCC is also looking forward to develop the financial, social, and defense sectors in the region, stated the official.
With strong security, there would be place for social and economic development and the Gulf leaders were well aware of this aspect especially after the region had been subjected to so many conflicts and wars which did effect integration in the region, said the Ambassador.
Meanwhile, Al-Roumi touched on the regions with regional countries such as Iran and said that the GCC was for cooperating with Tehran, adding that the issue of the Iranian nuclear file must be solved diplomatically because such solution would be benefited for all involved parties.
