Everybody should know that the 2013 Assembly will not bless "any issue that violates the Constitution or State laws, be it a treaty or a law or any other matter," said the speaker in a statement at the Parliament headquarters.
Regarding the GCC security pact, Al-Ghanim said "the Kuwaiti people do not accept to be separated from the Gulf cooperation system," blaming the government and the media for failure to explain to the public wisdom and benefits of this accord. Therefore, there is currently action by MPs to "deal with this pact according to the Constitution, State laws and our legislations as State men act, and not on basis of present or personal interests," he added.
The Speaker indicated that opinion of experts would be sought on this issue, adding that he would make further remarks on the issue at a news conference on Sunday.
