The source was approached by Al-Qabas, given his knowledge of the cabinet’s weekly meeting held last Tuesday.
He said while speaking on the condition of anonymity that the cabinet showed “full solidarity with Al- Hmoud” while discussing the topic of his grilling which was filed by MP Faisal Al- Duwaisan last Sunday.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister HH Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah told a team of MPs he met on Tuesday that he did not expect “so many grilling motions” filed by the current parliament which came into being on the promise of cooperation following elections boycotted by the opposition.
According to MPs who attended the meeting but preferred to keep their identity anonymous, the premier “stressed the importance of cooperation in order to realize achievement that we need.” In the meantime, leading opposition figure Ahmad Al-Saadoun said that they would refuse to deal with any prime minister “who does not come from the nation,” a reference to the opposition’s demand for an elected cabinet.
He made these statements during a gathering at the Kuwait Municipality square to show solidarity with young citizens held for posting remarks on Twitter deemed offensive to HH the Amir.
It was also attended by leading oppositionist Musallam Al-Barrak who said that “our cause is a state project, not a matter of four votes or five constituencies.” Meanwhile, Kuwait’s parliamentary financial and economic affairs committee discussed government suggestions regarding the Public Tenders Law.
The committee said that discussions would be completed with the relevant authorities next March 3.
Committee Rapporteur MP Safaa Al-Hashem said in a press statement after the meeting that the committee discussed the draft law on public tenders in addition to another parliamentary proposal in this regard. Representatives of the Central Tenders Committee, Ministry of Finance and the Audit Bureau attended the meeting.
Al-Hashem added that the committee discussed four key points including the form of the program whether executive or supervisory and the emphasis on the supervision and control of the Central Tenders Committee on tenders of the Interior, Defense, the National Guard and the Central Bank.
