The law thatwas expected to be implemented in September could help speed up two inheritance cases that could be solved after the paternity tests. The General Secretary of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) Lulwa Al Awadhi said on Monday that the law comes also to empower women by forcing judge to accept women as witnesses for marriage and divorce cases.
She said the law comes after the endorsement of the judiciary authority law, legal procedures law and alimony fund law to achieve the family stability goals. The activist vowed the SCW and women societies to fight for the implementation of the Shia part of the law as because of the rejection of Shia scholars, the parliament only approved the Sunni part.
