“Under the leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE attaches great significance to further promoting cooperation with the friendly United States in all areas, and in banking, finance, trade, investment and education in particular,” Shaikh Mohammed said as he received US Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner at Emirates Palace on Wednesday.
Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Foreign Minister, Sultan Nasser Al Suwaidi, Governor of the UAE Central Bank, and Youssef Al Otaibah, UAE Ambassador to the US, were present at the meeting.
He further described the US-UAE relations as good and built on strong foundations of mutual respect, trust and interests.
“We in the UAE are keenly interested on promoting bilateral relations and work on opening up new venues of cooperation between the two countries to the best interest of the ambitions and aspirations of their two peoples,” Shaikh Mohammed said.
At the meeting, Geithner briefed Shaikh Mohammed on the US administration’s approach and commitment to openness to foreign investments as well as to further boosting cooperation with the UAE.
The meeting discussed cooperation and coordination between financial and investment entities of the UAE and US, as well as the latest developments in global economy and energy markets.
