The briefing was conducted by FNC Secretary-General Dr Mohammed Salem Al Mazroui. He explained to the new members about the council session proceedings and roles in legislative debates.
According Al Mazroui, the briefing was aimed at familiarising the members with the council procedures and letting them interact with each other as well as the secretariat staff members.
The new members were also taken for a tour of the secretariat premises, including its various sections, library and the main meeting hall, where legislative matters are discussed during council sessions. Further they were introduced to section heads, who briefed the members about their section activities.
Later, Al Mazroui hosted a lunch for the new members on the council premises.The opening session of new council will be announced after the Rulers of the Emirates nominate the remaining 20 legislators of the 40-member House.
The first session will be summoned by the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, will inaugurate the new council. During the first session of the House, the council will elect the Speaker, two Deputy Speakers and various standing committees.
