To improve the lives of citizens she said the Juma prayers should be used to educate people about the leading cause of family breakups.

It is important, she said, to find a way to remove the offenders from the house instead of the victims. She said removing children who were victims of family violence causes psychological damage because the moment they are removed from their home, they begin to feel imprisoned.

Al-Anqari also said the offender must be rehabilitated psychologically.

She said the Kingdom should improve its methods of finding evidence of violence in the home, through the use of cameras for example.

“Saudi Society is keen to benefit from the experience of other countries but in a way that is compatible with the traditions of the Kingdom.”

“Children are reluctant to speak during investigations since they might be frightened especially if the person who assaulted them, is present (in court).”

She said there needs to be a law which would protect children from the abuse of their parents.

Many a time children will not acknowledge they are being abused because it is their primary caregivers who are the abusers.
