The talks were led by Ambassador Vikter Elbling , NSG Troika Group Chairman, and Ambassador Hamad Alkaabi, UAE Permanent Representative to the IAEA and Special Representative for International Nuclear Cooperation. The meeting highlighted the objectives of the NSG, and an explanation of the group’s export guidelines. The two teams discussed implementation approaches of NSG guidelines and potential assistance for UAE export control authorities consistent with UAE policy in developing export control system that adheres to the group’s guidelines as stated in the UAE policy on the evaluation and potential implementation of nuclear energy issued in April 2008.
Participants included Hungarian Ambassador to the UAE and representatives from the US Department of Energy, German Federal Office of Economics and Export Control, US Embassy and South Africa Embassy.
The UAE team included representatives from the Foreign Ministry, Interior Ministry, Ministry of Energy, Federal Customs Authority, UAE Armed Forces, National Security Council and Dubai Police.
