Oman Air orders 20 Boeing 737s to double fleet

This will increase the flag carrier’s fleet to 70 aircraft by 2020, Arabian Aerospace Online News Service reported on Monday.

The ordered planes include both current generation of 737s as well as re-engined 737 Max aircraft.

The flag carrier is expected to take delivery of the first batch of the planes (current generation of 737s) as early as 2017 while the Max 737 planes will come from 2019.

Oman Air is the national airline of the Persian Gulf state of Oman.

The Muscat-based flagship company operates scheduled domestic and international passenger services, as well as regional air taxi and charter flights.
