 They also agreed to reinforce co-operation in economic, financial,commercial, security, educational, tourism, cultural and agricultural fields, in addition to special areas in manpower, civil service and social development.

The two sides stressed the need to speed up the establishment of an investment holding company. They also signed an air services agreement as part of steps to foster co-operation in economic, commercial and tourism areas. The discussion took place during the meetings of the 3rd session of the Oman-Bahrain Joint Committee, which were held here yesterday, with a note of satisfaction with the progress made in bilateral co-operation.

The two sides hailed the GCC march and the achievements aimed at realising the welfare of the region’s people. The session also touched on regional and international issues of common concern and stressed the need for continuous consultation. The Omani side was headed by Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdallah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, while Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed al Khalifa, Bahrain Foreign Minister, headed his country’s side.

Prince Khalifa bin Salman al Khalifa, Prime Minister of Bahrain, received Alawi. Alawi conveyed the greetings and best wishes of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos to Prince Khalifa, along with His Majesty’s wishes of progress and prosperity for the Bahraini people. Bahrain PM asked Alawi to convey his greetings and best wishes to His Majesty the Sultan, along with his wishes of progress and prosperity for the Omani people.

He said that Oman and Bahrain share a deep-rooted history and a bright future. Bahrain PM and Alawi reviewed the latest developments in the regional and international arenas. Prince Salman bin Hamad al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander in Bahrain, also received Alawi as part of his current visit to the kingdom.

Prince Salman described Oman-Bahrain relations as brotherly and strategic. Bilateral relations receive the support of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos and King Hamad bin Issa al Khalifa, said Prince Salman, who underlined the need to expand co-operation in the fields of investment and other economic areas.
