Muscat: Thanks to the wise vision of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the Sultanate has implemented a number of five-year plans that met the need of each stage of development, Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal bin Saud Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court, has said in a statement to the Oman News
Agency (ONA).
During that period, the performance of the Omani government has been proper as it took inspiration from His Majesty’s wise vision and futuristic look and from being aware of the needs of the Omani society.
The Omani government has also ensured positive interaction with the needs of the citizens and was not isolated from their views. This trend has been enhanced with the Shura experience, represented in the Council of Oman (Majlis Al Shura and the State Council).
Sayyid Khalid hoped that Council of Oman would play an important role in cooperating with the government in terms of approving legislations and overseeing the performance of the government.
“We are optimistic of the professional and high quality members of the Council of Oman which ushers optimism about more cooperation between the government and the Council of Oman.”
He also pointed out that the National Youth Commission has been established in a bid to help youths take over the different public and private jobs and professions.
Efforts have been also made to help Omani youths start their own ventures and contribute to the economic growth and diversification in our country.
Omani women has been also provided with the required care and support, he said, adding that they are occupying the different junior and senior posts at the public and private sector organisations. They also contribute, with men, to the sustainable development process taking place in
the Sultanate.
“We hope that the Omani woman will be able to improve her contribution to the Shura process in the Sultanate in the future,”
he added.
“Many economic plans that take into consideration the social aspects have been developed to ensure easy living for all citizens. These plans reduced the cost of basic services, such as education, health, power and food stuff. The trend promoted stability and integrity among all members of the Omani society.”
He affirmed that the harmony between the leadership and the socio-economic policies has made Oman an oasis of security and peace. Oman has earned the respect of the world for the role it plays to solve regional and international disputes. Oman’s efforts have been for the sake of good and away from any hypocrisy.
He added that Oman, as it is the case with the rest of the world, is not immune from the economic and financial crisis taking place in the world namely those associated with the fluctuation of oil prices and its effects on the revenues of the oil producing countries, including the Sultanate
of Oman.
The Minister of the Diwan of the Royal Court added that “this decline in oil prices reminds us of similar circumstances we have gone through and overpassed safely, thanks to our reliance on Allah, the cooperation of the citizens, the sound plans that were developed, the keenness of the administrative system of the state to implement the measures that have been developed to control expenditure.”
He said that the experience that Sultanate has gained over the past 45 years in all fields and its openness to the world, as well as the friendly relations it has with the various countries of the world, enables the Sultanate to address emergency situations properly and helped it to be better prepared for addressing such emergency.
It also qualified the Sultanate to issue the different kinds of Sukuk and securities and enter into transactions with the various local, regional and international banks comfortably.
He also pointed out that while this crisis has negative aspects, it also has many positive hidden aspects that one should seek to benefit from.
Omanis, therefore, focus on providing comprehensive solutions for such crisis, he noted.
