The Sultanate is celebrating the GCC Consumer Protection Day after the Royal approval of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said to form an authority for consumer protection, the first of its kind in the Arab world, to work towards the protection of the consumer from change of price and services in the market, to curb hiking of prices and ensure consumer freedom to choose, fairn treatment, honesty, credibility and increasing consumer awareness.

Sheikh Dr Said Bin Khamis Al Ka’abi, Chairman of PACP, said that celebration of the GCC consumer protection day is a good gesture from the GCC Secretariat General to shed light on an important element in economic process, that is the consumer, adding that the consumer has become the always present factor in the developed countries in all processes relevant to planning, execution and practicing of trade and economic work and activities.

This year’s celebration attracts special attention as it comes when we have PACP in the Sultanate which is considered the first government entity of its kind in the Arab world. This a significant indication of the Royal attention from His Majesty the Sultan for consumer protection in the Sultanate, as the consumer is seen a factor in the economic process and hence his rights should be safe guarded and has to be protected against unacceptable commercial practices. PACP provides full protection in the light of rules and regulations.
