He said that the Omani government is ready for mediation efforts to help the two parties reach a settlement on the nuclear dispute.
Bin Alawi said that he is hopeful that Iran and the western governments would sign an accord in March until June.
Omani senior diplomat made the remarks in an interview with the CNN cable news network.
He added that the upcoming agreement will be unique in its kind, because such phenomenon had not been happened before.
Responding to a question that some believe that Iran and the US should get out from Group 5+1 to immediately sign an agreement and only negotiate with each other, bin Alawi said he has objection to such an idea, because the settlement must have an international dimension.
US is one of the countries which has a lot of concerns about Iranian nuclear program, but the UN and other world countries should support agreement between Iran and the US, so no one must opposes a settlement.
Answering another question that if nuclear talks were not successful, what changes would happen in Oman relations with the US or Tehran and which one is more important for Oman?
Bin Alawi said that none of the two countries is thinking about an alternative and all are moving toward signing an agreement and Oman does not favor one to the other, but intends to help the two.
He underlined that whatever Oman wants is tranquility and stability in the region and in the other regions, because in the past three or four decades many wars took place and they should come to an end somewhere.
